UMS Botswana Pty Ltd (a division of the UMS Group) is busy with an underground vertical shaft sinking project with JDS Energy & Mining Inc. (the EPCM contractor) for Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd at the Karowe Diamond Mine at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. This exciting project is currently in the Main Sink contract phase. Shaft sinking and underground construction activities require critical skills and experience with an expert understanding of sinking methodologies, underground construction, mine health and safety, as well as contract management knowledge, which is essential. We are currently searching for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to be considered for the below positions in Letlhakane. Please note that all positions are project based.
The Batch Plant Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and guiding the efficient production and delivery of site mix concrete/red crate for sinking purpose to the batch plants to meet safety and quality standards. This candidate will report to the Shaft Sinking Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervision of batch plant and personnel.
- Manage the production of batch plant equipment and raw materials.
- Perform various quality control functions i.e. testing of concrete mix designs.
- Deliver consistent concrete and associated products to construction sites.
- Supervise batch plant maintenance & staff.
- Legal Compliance.
- Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Compliance.
Requirements
- BGCSE equivalent qualification.
- Valid Blasting Certificate.
- Must have experience applicable to batch plant operations.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sinking construction environment.
- An assessor certificate, blasting or trade certificate will be an advantage.
