Master Farmer Feeds (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for fully qualified and experienced Quality Control Officer at its Feed Mill, Nutri Feeds Botswana in Pilane.

Overview

To monitor, evaluate, and ensure the quality and safety of raw materials and finished poultry feed products, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and company specifications.

Key responsibilities.

• Monitor and control quality of all incoming raw material.
• Monitor feed manufacturing processes (grinding, mixing, pelleting).
• Ensure correct formulation and inclusion rates of additives (e.g., vitamins, minerals, medications).
• Verify dosing accuracy of feed additives such as coccidiostats (e.g., salinomycin).
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
• Ensure feed meets specified standards for poultry performance.
• Perform routine laboratory tests (proximate analysis, toxin screening, etc.).
• Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration records.
• Keep accurate documentation of all test results.
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory bodies (e.g., feed safety standards).
• Participate in audits and inspections.
• Investigate quality deviations or complaints.
• Identify root causes of issues such as contamination, poor pellet quality, or nutrient imbalance.
• Ensure strict hygiene standards in the feed mill.
• Monitor pest control and sanitation practices.
• Prevent cross-contamination between medicated and non-medicated feeds.

To qualify for the position, candidates will require the following:

• Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or equivalent from a recognised institution
• 2 years’ experience in FMCG environment and/or similar role
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Excellent Computer Literacy
• Document review and procedural writing experience
• Knowledge of desired ISO Standards and GMP regulations
• Strong physical fitness and the ability to respond to emergency situations, if required.
