Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute teaching/learning activities for assigned courses in Child Health Nursing programmes.
  • Demonstrate to students’ patient/client care activities in the clinical area, supervises and evaluate students while performing these activities at the same time considering ethical rules governing the profession by observing patient/client rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Responsible for maintaining academic standards by assisting and supporting lecturers in formulating course plans for Child Health Nursing courses and advising them on selection of appropriate teaching strategies for both theory and practice.
  • Facilitate the designing, development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum for Child Health Nursing programme and coordinate plans made by Lectures.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Health team to improve patient treatment and care, update clinical performance skills and improve clinical teaching. Participates in setting maintenance and evaluation of clinical standards of care.
  • Undertake research and support Lecturers and students to research in the clinical area and utilize findings to improve clinical practice.
  • Assist the Head of Department in the running of the Child Health Nursing Programme.
  • Contributes to the effective management and administration of the institution by serving in various committees.
  • Undertake any other related duties to meet exigencies of the service.

Requirements

  • Master of Nursing Science degree in paediatric nursing.
  • Bachelors of Nursing Science degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of postgraduate qualification in education
  • Clinical experience in the Paediatric nursing areas, and teaching experience at a comparable institution.
  • NB: Provide evidence of registration with the Nursing and Midwifery council of country of origin.
  • Experience: Candidates should have served at least 2 years at D4- Senior Lecturer II or comparable position.
