Basic function of the position:
The Engineer (Mechanical/Mechanical) is responsible for providing engineering leadership, technical expertise and asset management support to ensure the safe reliable and efficient operation of mining, plant, infrastructure and equipment assets. The role is accountable for engineering design, maintenance strategies, technical compliance, project execution, asset reliability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and technical leadership to operation and maintenance teams
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, procedures and best practices
  • Oversee engineering modifications, upgrades and improvement projects
  • Develop and implement preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies
  • Support operational planning through engineering input and technical advice
  • Monitor equipment reliability and performance
  • Monitor maintenance KPI’s and drive contionus improvement initiatives
  • Analyse equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions

Requirements

  • Diploma/bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering / Electromechanical Engineering
  • Government certificate of competence as an Engineer
  • Registration with the Engineers registration Board (ERB) Botswana
  • Minimum 8-10 years as an appointed Engineer in a mining environment
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a sinking environment
  • Driver’s License, First Aid & CPR certificate
