BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for providing a service in respect of engineering maintenance and servicing for mobile and gen-set equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Maintaining equipment using the appropriate maintenance technologies to ensure optimum availability of equipment/machines in the designated section, taking cognizance of standard operating procedures, safety directives and standards
- Performing over-inspections on tasks completed by apprentices, semi-skilled workers and artisan helpers and operatives, providing guidance if required, ensuring work quality
- Assessing equipment performance/condition and reporting all defects and anomalies identified
- Carrying out project related work according to set standards, plans and scheduled targets
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- National Craft Certificate in Heavy Mechanics/ Diploma in Heavy Mechanic engineering or any relevant qualification
- Minimum of 4 years in heavy vehicle mechanic role
- Experience in mining industry is preferred
