1. FARM MANAGER – WILDERNESS SHOKOMOKWA FARM

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to oversee all operations on our horticultural farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in farm management, with a focus on ensuring the successful production and maintenance of crops.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive farm plan, including production goals, budgets, and schedules

• Supervise and coordinate all farm activities, including planting, harvesting, irrigation, and crop care

• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all staff

• Manage inventory, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient operations

• Monitor and analyze farm performance metrics and implement improvements as needed

• Hire, train, and supervise farm staff and community trainees, providing guidance and support as needed

• Maintain farm buildings, equipment, and infrastructure in good working condition

• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders

Requirements:

• Proven 5 years experience in farm management, with a track record of successful production and operation

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team

• Knowledge of crop production techniques, as well as pest and disease management

• Familiarity with farm equipment and machinery, including maintenance and repair

• Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed, especially during peak farming seasons

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• Must be prepared to live on site

• Have valid driver’s license

• Have basic computer skills
