Responsible for ensuring that WestSure Insurance operates in full adherence to NBFIRA regulations, the Insurance Industry Act, internal policies, anti-fraud standards, AML/CFT requirements, and all applicable statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain full awareness of regulatory requirements under NBFIRA, including Corporate Governance Code and Prudential Standards.
- Prepare and submit mandatory NBFIRA returns and reports.
- Ensure adherence to NBFIRA’s Fit & Proper requirements and monitor licensing obligations.
- Act as the main point of contact for NBFIRA inspections and audits.
- Monitor changes in legislation and provide advisory updates.
- Develop and implement an annual Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP).
- Conduct internal compliance reviews covering underwriting, claims, and complaints handling.
- Support implementation of AML/CFT frameworks and monitor KYC/CDD processes.
- Maintain and review company compliance policies and codes of conduct.
- Oversee the regulatory aspects of customer complaints resolution.
- Conduct periodic compliance and ethics training for staff.
- Prepare quarterly and annual compliance reports for Executive Management and Board Committees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, or Postgraduate/professional qualification in Compliance, Governance, Risk, or Financial Regulation.
- Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance Professional, CAMS, ICA qualification) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in compliance, legal, insurance, risk management, or regulatory roles—insurance experience preferred.
- Must meet NBFIRA’s Fit & Proper Criteria regarding integrity, competence, and financial soundness.
- Strong understanding of NBFIRA Regulatory Framework, Insurance Industry Act, Prudential Standards, and AML/CFT (Financial Intelligence Act).
- Experience with regulatory reporting and interactions with NBFIRA.
