- Reporting to the Construction Superintendent the Project Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for co-ordinating the mechanical project activities.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Ensure that the standards of work and the materials supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information.
- Assist contractors, within the constraints of the contract, to deliver their project scope by making effective and timely decisions on construction related issues.
- Maintain liaison with the Client maintenance staff and ensure that hand-over arrangements are effective.
- Liaise with designers on the practical aspects of engineering installations, to ensure the equipment maintainability and practicality of design proposals.
- Monitor the performance of contractors and consultants on site and to ensure that engineering installations are constructed in accordance with scope of works; drawings and specifications.
- To provide feedback on the performance of contractors and consultants
- To confirm that claims are processed in line with service delivery.
- To attend design team meetings with in-house and external consulting design staff.
- To attend and report to pre-contract and site meetings.
- Identify technical problems on site and assist in recommending corrective action.
- To witness testing and commissioning of engineering installations.
- Assist in the preparation of scope of works and schedules.
- Enforcement of Company Health, Safety, Environment policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised training institution.
- 10 years post qualification engineering experience, preferably in the mining & processing environment
- Experience in structural, plate & pipe maintenance processes – Preferred
- Computer literacy is essential
- Minimum 5 years co-ordinating a maintenance/project work team
