Job Summary
To implement Environmental Management Programme
and best practice guidance on environmental
management in line with operational requirements
and facilitate the implementation of
effective environmental management systems to
enhance the maturity level of the operation as well
as provide assurance to the environmental management
system performance.
Minimum Requirements
• Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent
• 4 years post-qualification environmental management experience in mining or similar environment
• Exposure in a mining environment will be an added advantage
Pre-Appointment Training
• Risk Management/environmental monitoring
• Implementation and Auditing of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001)
Key Effectiveness Areas
• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved budgets
• Facilitates the implementation of the operations environmental management plans in line with the Debswana Environmental strategy.
• Coordinates the development of action plans and maintenance of an effective environmental management system to support the strategy
• Coordinates the risk management process within the operation in order to minimize the environmental risk profile and maximize the realization of opportunity for the operation;
• Evaluates, analyzes, plans and coordinates the implementation of interventions to address emerging environmental risks.
• Implements individual development plans and manage variance
• Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
• Drives continual improvement through best practice identifi cation and innovative solutions
• Implements environmental programmes for key performance indicators to achieve set performance targets for the operation in line with the corporate targets;
• Contributes inputs for reporting on performance and ensures data integrity in the data management systems
• Implement the environmental standards and provide internal assurance against set standards.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
• Coordinate the implementation and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/ requirements in areas of responsibility
