Job Purpose
JobOverview
To plan, organize and coordinate the implementation of security management systems to minimize security risks exposure such as theft, fraud and vandalism and reduce losses in line with established policies and standards
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
JobRole
Security Management
- Manages the delivery of security management systems, programs, policies and procedures for cost effective and efficient protection of Corporation’s assets, personnel and customers.
- Coordinates investigations on security breaches and incidents involving Corporation property, intellectual property, employees, contractors and customers, reports to Security Operations Manager with recommendations on findings.
- Manages the Security Control Centre interlinking all security systems across BPC Offices through remote network connectivity for bolstering physical security.
- Coordinates the deployment of resources to minimize risk and evaluate system effectiveness.
- Manages access and egress control measures, methods and techniques in accordance with set parameters to prevent the misappropriation and/or loss of company assets.
Data Collection & Analysis
- Analyses key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identifies possible impact on the business
- Prepares periodic reports on systems performance and submits to the Security Operations Manager.
- Manages sectional information and compiles statistics on security breaches and incidents to establish behavioural patterns, and facilitate a trend analysis.
Risk Management
- Identifies, assesses, prioritises and manages risks and recommends mitigation plan for the security risks
Contract Management
- Delivers required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers and working within an established contract management plan.
- Manages the adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA) to ensure return on investment.
Client & Customer Management
- Manages stakeholder relationships to ensure that their needs are met within established policies and procedures.
- Executes a communication plan by working within established internal communication systems and procedures
- Communicates and raises security awareness to all employees, contractors and service providers within the Corporation through highlighting technical security solutions and the impact to the business and thus inculcate a security culture.
Budgeting & Costing
- Takes responsibility for delivering a prescribed budget within area of responsibility and provides accurate information when required.
Compliance
- Identifies shortcomings, suggests improvements and implements approved revisions to current compliance processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
- Monitors compliance to regulatory requirements by employees and Contractors and makes recommendations.
- Conducts periodic assessment to determine deviations or weaknesses from the standards, policy, procedures, practices and technologies and thus take appropriate mitigation measures within agreed timelines to minimise potential losses and inform the risk profile.
Improvement / Innovation
- Identifies shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services.
Policy Development & Implementation
- Provides input into the development of policies and develops procedures for an area within the organization, then monitors the implementation in compliance with legislative requirements, standards, policies and corporate governance principles.
People Management
- Carries out on-the-job training in order to increase the flexibility, efficiency and capability of the team.
- Manages the motivation and discipline of staff in area of responsibility in line with laid down procedures to realize the Corporation’s objectives
- Manages the performance of the team by working within a performance management system
- Proposes and implements staff development plans for the area of responsibility to ensure competent, efficient and motivated staff
Safety, Health and Environment
- Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organisations safety, health and environment systems and protocols.

Qualifications
JobQualification
- A recognised Degree in Security Management or related area.
- Certification in security management. (PSP, CPP, CSMP and related) as an added advantage.
- Membership of recognized professional security institution or association
Experience
JobExperience
- At least 6 years post qualification experience in Security and/or Risk Management environment.
- At least three years should have been at management level.
