Job description
- Formulate financial strategies, policies and procedures that will support business operations as well as improve sustainable growth and profitability
- Manage all financial and accounting functions to aid core business operations
- Compile monthly management accounts including value adding analyses of the results and recommendations on needed improvements
- Manage the internal control environment and implement necessary improvements
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with international reporting standards
- Support the Managing Director in Board engagements, including preparation of board packs as applicable and attendance of meetings
- Coordinate the preparation of budgets and forecasts and assist with budgetary control processes
- Monitor and ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements
- Manage the treasury function of the company including tight controls on income, expenditure and cash flows as well as ensuring timely collections and payments of suppliers
- Manage business risk and develop practical risk management mechanisms, ensuring that appropriate financial policies, processes and controls are in place and in use at all times
- Coordinate all audit activities (internal and external), ensuring annual audits are carried out efficiently and on time
- Manage the procurement function of the company, ensuring compliance to procurement policies and regulations
- Oversee the administration function of the company including facilities and fleet management
- Provide operational leadership to the finance team including coaching, mentoring, guidance and training
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience in accounting, financial management or related fields, five (5) of which must have been at managerial level
- A related post graduate qualification will be an added advantage
- A professional membership of a recognized institution is critical e.g. ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA
- Strong technical proficiency with good understanding of financial and taxation legislation and other regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in enterprise risk management
- Proven leadership ability and people management skills
- Strategic and innovative thinking with strong integrity and professionalism
- Good communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as excellent analytical skills
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll software’s/systems as well as Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, excel, Word and PowerPoint
