The project is for the duration of 9 years from March 2019 which entails moving over 194 million bank cubic metres of waste material to expand the current mine. Reporting to the Communications & Community Relations Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all social development and community engagement In the Zone of Influence. The Officer Is responsible for the implementation of approved Social Performance strategy and plans Initiatives aligned to that of the Client.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a detailed profile of the host communities.
- Develop and create a detailed Social Management Plan and facilitate the co-creation of a long-term community development plan for the host communities.
- Manage the Implementation of internal Social Performance process efficiency improvement project plans and monitor projects for changes to progress, budget, scope or risks.
- Develop, review and annually update Social Management Plan and action plan.
- Report on Social Management Plans and Community Development progress to the Client as per the Contract stipulates.
- Track progress of the issues management plan as per MMJV Grievance Procedure and the Social Way.
- Advise management on any social risks and issues that may have material effect on business.
- Develop a management system of all Social and Human Right risks and Impacts associated with the contract activities
- Develop and facilitate community engagement forums and other necessary engagement frameworks, through an integrated Stakeholder Management Plan.
- Develop local stakeholder database by Identification and profiling local stakeholders.
- Develop stakeholder engagement feedback mechanisms to the host communities.
- Assist client CA on the Identification of local issues, categories and prioritize them accordingly.
- Partner with communities to proactively Identify, manage and monitor the Impacts of mine activities in Jwaneng Mine zone of influence through Social Performance Requirements
Job Requirements
- Diploma/Degree Qualifications in Social Sciences, Economics, PR, Communications, Marketing or related disciplines
- Class B Driver s Licence
- At least 4 years relevant experience in a dynamic environment
- Experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage
