MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
- Diploma in Risk Management or equivalent related qualification
- Incident investigation techniques and risk assessment courses
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position oversees the management of risk aspects and the enforcement of safety standards across the Botswana operation by leading and managing the SHE team.
- Experience in working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues
- Safety Risk Management Program
- Exposure to a group company with multiple subsidiaries within a manufacturing or mining industry
- Strong strategic management experience
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of working experience within the SHE discipline, preferably in heavy industry
- Proficient in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and 45001 management systems
- Proficient in Occupational Health discipline
- Proficient in Auditing and inspection skills
- Proficiency in accident investigation techniques
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Significant experience working with auditors and in ensuring corporate governance across the business
- Implementation and maintenance of internal controls and statutory compliance
- People management and development
DUTIES:
To consistently oversee, coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Business Unit SHE standards, whilst ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance by conducting routine audits at all operations;
- Formulate plans that enhance compliance to and achievement of a safety resilient culture
- Coordinate SHE reporting requirements and maintenance of the legal training for compliance
- Provide quality assurance oversight and carry prescribed audits/ inspections to enhance best practice
- Participate in the relevant lead investigation of significant accidents/ incidents within the company
- Oversee and monitor implementation of medium & long term associated action plans of above and prevent similar reoccurrence, through maintenance of Non-compliance system
- Monitored the integrity of the accident’ modem investigation databases & communicate key findings
- Ensure compliance and performance of operations SHE systems according to minimum standards
- Enforce high standards and compliance to PPE related matters
- Ensure the safe working practices of all contractors, security activities and Occupational Practitioners
- Administer all routine safe working surveys and compliance thereof
- Ensure compliance with all legal appointments within all operations
- Performance management of the Risk department
