COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Primary purpose of this position
Reporting to the Bancassurance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist assistance to CIHB Group of Companies subsidiaries with the management of compliance in line with regulatory requirements, the compliance risk management framework and to implement specified compliance policies.
Key Performance Areas
- Provide compliance training to CIHB Group subsidiaries staff
- Provide input into the continued development of the compliance methodology based on own experience, research conducted and information received from stakeholders
- Draft basic Risk Management Plans (RMP)
including controls - Monitor that agreed action plans in respect of all findings are finalised, logged on the issues log and tracked to resolution.
- Pro-actively monitor key risks in terms of allocated regulatory requirements
- Prepare compliance documents such as risk management plans, compliance audit programmes, compliance findings, opinions by business units’ and provide detailed feedback within agreed time-lines
- Monitor new regulatory developments and provide input into comment to regulators.
- Participate in industry-related initiatives and establish networks with key role players
- Regularly reviewing and advising on the implementation of and compliance with any proposed legislation
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree in Law (LLB), Business Administration or equivalent from a recognised university.
- Qualification in risk management is an added advantage
- COP is an added advantage
- 5 (five) years’ work experience 3 (three) years of which should have compliance & risk management and/or in the financial/insurance services industry
- Ability to interpret and apply NBFIRA Act legislation and regulations and other regulatory requirements
- Computer literacy (knowledge of MS Word, MS
Excel and MS Outlook) - Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiar with processes for developing, revising, monitoring and implementing corporate policies, terms of reference and manuals
