We started Secure Health Mart in 2017 out of a converted medical suite on a tree-lined block in Oakland. The building wasn’t much to look at back then—just a few exam rooms, a cramped front desk, and a window unit that rattled every August. We didn’t care. We were too busy trying to build a clinic that did things differently.
Our focus has always been tight: pain management, men’s ED health, and cognitive support using modafinil. Three areas where people often feel unheard or bounced around the system. Chronic pain patients get told it’s in their head. Men with ED get handed the same prescription without anyone looking at underlying causes. And folks who need sustained focus for shift work or a neurological condition get swept into stimulant conversations that miss the point. We wanted a place that actually listened and acted on evidence instead of habit.
If you walk into the Oakland clinic today, you’ll see that the vibe hasn’t changed much. Same faces at the front desk. Same nurse practitioners who’ve been with us since year two. We keep our patient panel intentionally small so that when you call, a human picks up. Someone who knows your name and remembers that you prefer afternoon appointments.
For pain, we connect the dots between joint function, nerve health, and daily routines. For ED, we run labs—testosterone, thyroid, a full metabolic panel—and talk about sleep, stress, and circulation before writing anything. With modafinil, we start with a real conversation about your cognitive goals, your sleep history, and how the medication fits into your life. We don’t push anyone toward a script they don’t need.
Over the years we’ve helped thousands of patients, but you won’t see us putting out press releases or stuffing mailboxes with glossy ads. Growth has been word-of-mouth, patient to patient. We like it that way. The work feels quieter and more honest when your next patient shows up because their neighbor had a good experience, not because an algorithm targeted them.
Secure Health Mart stays right where it started Read Our Blog—Oakland, California. If you’re looking for a clinic that treats you like an adult and doesn’t drown you in jargon, we’re here.
