Its main objectives are to provide for and maintain a National Credit and Qualifications Framework (NCQF) and to coordinate the Education, Training and Skills Development Quality Assurance System.

ASSESSMENTS OFFICER
Job Summary:
To coordinate the regulation of assessment and moderation processes carried out by ETPs, workplaces and assessment centres to ensure the effectiveness, integrity, consistency of assessments and moderation practices ETPs and awarding bodies in order to ascertain the maintenance of quality, competitive and internationally recognised educational standards to meet the socio economic needs of the country.
Main Duties
- Initiates the development, review and update of effective policies, strategies and interventions that will improve assessment and moderation management across sectors and recommends them to Manager Assessments
- Identifies and recommends competent subject matter experts who will participate in expert panels on assessment and moderation of internal assessment systems and practices of ETPs and awarding bodies
- Schedules, coordinates and organises meetings of the subject matter expert panels in accordance with divisional work programme
- Provides inputs to the development, review and update of RPL assessment criteria and guidelines and ; coordinates the work of outsourced external RPL consultants
- Responds in timely manner to external stakeholders’ queries and requests for information on RPL and CATS
- Monitors and quality assures education and training providers, awarding bodies and accredited RPL centres to ensure that they comply with national policies, criteria, standards, operational guidelines and approaches for the recognition of prior learning
- Prepares monthly and quarterly assessments and moderation reports for review and consolidation into divisional reports by the Manager Assessments
- Produces assessments and moderation statistics as and when required to enhance informed decision making
Key Performance Indicators
Availability and effectiveness of assessment and moderation systems, processes and procedures and compliance thereto
- Effective coordination and facilitation of work done by Subject Matter Expert panels
- Objectivity and integrity of internal assessment and moderation systems of ETPs
- Maintenance of quality national assessment and moderation standards
Position Requirements:
Education:
At least a Degree in Education from a recognised institution or any other equivalent qualification acceptable to BQA
Certification in the RPL field, Adult Learning, Qualification Recognition or related fields.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in similar functions within an education and training environment.
Required Competencies:
Technical competencies
□ Knowledge of policies/strategies/legislations/regulations of the Education/Training sector in Botswana, as well as the NCQF □ Knowledge of RPL approaches processes etc.
- Knowledge of processes relating to registration, accreditation and quality assurance
- Computer literate. Experience with systems and applications in the specific work

Remuneration
BQA offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities and challenges of the job.
Terms of employment
Fixed term contract of 1-5 years for Managerial Positions and above and Permanent and Pensionable terms for officer positions and below.
