Letshego is seeking to appoint a Group Head of Market /Business Risk. To drive the development and implementation of the Liquidity and Funding Risk Framework, including risk assessment, measurement, assumption derivation, limit methodology development, across the Group and to assist the organisation achieve its goals and objectives by timeously identifying, monitoring, controlling, and reporting risks that may affect performance and capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, review and advise on Group appetite, tolerance and targets for all Asset Liability Management (ALM) related risks (maturity, liquidity, interest-rate, exchange-rate and capital).
- Formulates, implements and monitors unit strategic business plan and ensures its supports all business units in-line with the Group strategy.
- Manages and monitors market, counterparty, and liquidity risks and any other risks in-line with market best practice and overall group strategy.
- Formulates, implements, monitors risk management policies and procedures that support business and minimize Group exposure.
- Responsible for liquidity management, forecasting, shock analysis and allocations and stress testing methodologies and training of ALM Head and team.
- Develops and ensures compliance to Foreign exchange and interest rate risk management manuals, policies.
- Liaises with external regulatory or legal bodies on liquidity and funding risk management matters and issues.
- Collaborates with Country CROs and other control functions including Internal Audit in pursuit of sustainable and profitable balance sheet growth and ensure the program alignment with minimum duplication and no material gaps in risk management as well as (combined assurance).
- Develops an enterprise wide risk management framework for the Group and ensures it is functional at all times.
- Researches on modern risk management trends and seeks approval to implement the same for the benefit of the Group.
- Advises senior management on all risk that encroaches on the business and recommends necessary action to minimize risk impact.
Requirements
- Minimum B.Com. Accounting, Business Studies or B.Sc. Economics, Finance Degree or equivalent.
- Professional qualification such as CFA, FRM or ACCA is required.
- A post graduate degree such as MBA, MSc. Economics or equivalent will have an added advantage.
- At least 12 years’ experience in treasury, funding within the Financial Services industry.
- At least 4 years in a senior management role.
- Strong market risk, liquidity risk management and ALM experience from a progressive global/ regional banking group is essential.
- International certifications in Risk management, such as CFA, or FRM.
- Knowledge of Banking law, rules and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of capital markets, market risk, and hedging strategies.
- Strong knowledge of balance sheet management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Management standards and procedures;
- Must have a thorough understanding of market trends and related dynamics and be able to advice management accordingly;
- Deep knowledge of regulatory and prudential requirements relating market and liquidity risks across the geographies Group where group has presence.
- Must be a market and liquidity risk subject matter expert.
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyse, troubleshoot and strategically solve problems with high attention to detail.
- Integrity and ethics in both internal and external affairs.
- Inquisitive and proactive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions.
- Good planning and organisational skills, and a creative and innovative approach to work.
- Excellent process evaluation and analysis skills and understands the various regulations and legislations governing the financial services sectors (Banking and Insurance).
- Experience of leading and managing risk teams;
- Ability to develop, evaluate and interpret financial statements.
- Experience in preparing Board papers is desirable.
