- Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Senior Resource Mine Geologist will be responsible for managing, leading and coordinating resource modelling, resource estimation and geological data management functions in alignment with the organisation’s long-term objectives. The Senior Resource Mine Geologist will work with mine geology, exploration geologists, and other engineering teams to aid in infill drill planning, data analysis, reconciliation, and other duties as necessary. The incumbent must ensures that all activities are carried out in conformance with Company policy and legislative requirements.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Coordinate and oversee all resource geology activities including data collection, data auditing, and resource modelling;
- Develop and implement a rolling schedule for grade control modelling based on the underground mine schedule;
- Oversee the development and updating of 3D interpretations of geology and mineralisation for grade control modelling;
- Coordinate and review the calculation of all statistics and geostatistics prior to conducting grade control estimation;
- Oversee the development of resource models and complete validations prior to reporting and delivery to mine planning teams;
- Complete resource model reconciliations on an ongoing basis and implement approved actions;
- Monitor conversion of Mineral Resource to mine reserves and inventory;
- Assist with the production reconciliation process as required;
- Complete reports as required including geological, resource, grade control, completion, expenditure, budget and summary reports;
- Manage and develop a team of resource geologists and database geologists;
- Ensure development of right competences and effectiveness of human capital through developing and implementing of career, localisation, succession and training plans as well as talent attraction and retaining strategy;
- Co-ordinate and communicate effectively with other site technical, operational, support, and managerial teams;

- Demonstrate strong safety values and a willingness to build a safety culture;
- Coordinates & manages the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility as well as compliance to the statutory requirements;
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets and forecasts in area of responsibility;
- Complete quality control activities including frequent audits on underground diamond drilling, core logging, face and wall mapping, sampling, and assaying activities;
- Oversee and coordinate the design, costing, and execution of underground diamond drilling programmes ensuring alignment with the mine plan;
- Manage drilling contractors and any other geology associated contractors or service providers including assaying contractors;
- Ensure timeous delivery of resource models to the mine planning and production departments in line with the mine plan;
- Oversee the development of various geological models as required by the mine planning team;
- Contribute to budgeting and cost control processes in area of responsibility;
- Complete reconciliations of geological models and implement approved actions;
- Ensure compliance with respect to mineral resource estimates in terms of both JORC and NI-43-101 requirements; and
- Perform resource estimates, audits and technical reports as required;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology with a minimum of 10 years’ post graduate experience, with at least of 5 of those in an d underground hard rock environment, and 5 years of resource geology experience in base metal and/or precious metal deposits;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required plus strong mining software skills in completing geostatistical analyses, wireframe generation, drill program design, and resource modelling;
- Registration with a recognised professional body;
- Strong database interrogation and reporting skills also required.

- Proficient in the use of common resource modelling and mine software packages similar to Surpac, Datamine, and Snowden’s Supervisor;
