Botswana Railways invites a fully qualified Motswana citizen with a proven track record of accomplishment to apply for the position of Trainee Shunter tenable in various stations of Botswana Railways within the Operations Department. After completion of a three to four months training, the successful candidates will be expected to direct and control shunting movements at station and siding safely and in a cost-effective manner to meet objectives of the organization in accordance with laid down procedures.

Requirements
- Educational Qualification: BGCSE/COSC or IGCSE
- Experience: Any experience in trains working environment or a similar role will be an added advantage.
- Botswana Railways deems the position of shunters as a safety critical position and the requirements and selection of employees with appropriate safety competencies are essential requirements for safe railway operations. This is provided for by the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) and SANS 3000-4:2011, Edition 1 adopted by Southern African Development Community and Southern African Railways Association (SADC-SARA) which Botswana Railways subscribe to. The standards place particular emphasis on the inherent physical job requirements, including anatomical, anthropometrical, biomechanical and physiological abilities to perform tasks.
- Applicants should at least be of height of 1.6 and above, not overweight and be of ages between 18 and 24 years.
