Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd owns the Karowe Diamond Mine in Letlhakane, which operates an Open Pit Mine and is now transitioning into the Underground operation. The envisaged underground operation is currently undergoing construction in which two vertical shafts (Production and Ventilation) are being sunk and will be followed by lateral development and subsequent ore extraction. To this end, Lucara Botswana invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following positions, tenable in Letlhakane, to be part of this exciting underground mine development.
Reporting to the Operational Readiness Lead, the Trainer – Mechanical Trades will be responsible for conducting training needs analysis, designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs that enhance mechanical maintenance skills, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes and conducts training need analysis
- Develops and Delivers training programs on mechanical engineering aspects in accordance with company training policy and procedures
- Apply appropriate training methodologies aligned to OEM requirements
- Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of training and development programmes
- Training administration
- Safety, health and environmental compliance
Requirements
- Minimum of National Craft Certificate (NCC) / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- A least 5 years’ post qualification experience in training and development, preferably in a mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel engines, and conveyor systems.
- Botswana Qualification Authority Registered Trainer/ Assessor.
- Train the Trainer and Assessor certification from a recognized training institution, either BQA or SAQA aligned.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies an added advantage
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
