Essential Information
A meat department manager oversees the operation of a store’s meat department. A manager is in charge of the employees in the department and may be responsible for training, overseeing, scheduling and completing paperwork, along with other tasks. A manager is also in charge of customer service in his or her department and is responsible for handling complaints, ensuring satisfaction and maintaining quality service.

 

 

We are looking for the following qualifications: 
1. Track meat inventory and place weekly orders.
2. Fill/maintain/merchandise meat case.
3. Oversee excellent retail cutting (from sub-primals to case-ready), customer service, and exhaustive understanding of cuts and animal rearing process.
4. Assure quality control for all meat products.
5. Coordinate with Head Chef to assure maximum product usage (meat).

 

6. Scheduling and oversight of schedule and employee hours.
7. Manage and oversee in-store training for all butchers and clerks.
8. Inventory waste/shrink management.
9. Assure highest level of customer service, including fielding/handling customer complaints and questions as required.
10. Adherence to health and safety regulations; enforcement of safe in-store practices.
11. Oversee grocery/retail merchandising, ordering, etc.
12. Manage labor and costs to budget.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 
– 2 to 5+ years in retail meat cutting
– 1+ years in management
– Experience working with whole animals
– Experience in purchasing, scheduling and inventory
– Good working knowledge of Excel
– Working experience with POS systems
– Highest attention to detail, organization and cleanliness

 

– Great interpersonal and customer relationship skills
– Passionate about sustainable meat, farming and food education
– Excellent problem solving skills
– Positive attitude and ability to pitch in wherever needed an absolute necessity
