By managing day-to-day activities, analysing statistics and reading and writing reports, the Operations Manager plays a vital role in the company.

 

It is the Operations Manager’s responsibility to manage all areas of travel operations and make sure the organisation is running seamlessly, with a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of customers and clients.

The role is pivotal to success and growth of the company.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Direct reporting line into the Managing Director

The successful candidate should have experience in a similar role & background, within Business Travel and be confident in dealing with staff, suppliers, directors and key stakeholders at a senior level.

Strong operational and GDS experience, fares knowledge, staff management skills and have the ability to work within a fast-paced, busy environment.

The candidate must be able to see the big picture as well as the finer details, as your work is across the spectrum.

The candidate will deal in small daily matters, as well as larger aims and setting goals. A systematic organised approach to work is vital.

Brilliant communication and interpersonal skills, for dealing with many types of people at all levels in a direct diplomatic way, are essential. An understanding of customer/client requirements is also necessary.

Strong leadership skills, including effective time management, prioritising and delegation, are required. The candidate must be able to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate your team, and always seeking to improve best practice.

 

Having natural creative flair and being full of ideas and energy to introduce new concepts and innovations would also be advantageous.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY :
Being a key player in the Management Team, the core responsibility of this role is to ensure the smooth operations within this busy, successful and growing Travel Management Company, located in Fairgrounds, Gaborone.

Key responsibilities include:

Plan, direct and coordinate the travel operations of the company.
Responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of company operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

 

The role includes liaising with other team members, including interacting with managers of different areas of the organization, presenting findings to stakeholders and higher management as well as training and supervising new employees and tracking and measuring staff performance.
Planning and controlling change.
Managing quality assurance programmes.
Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency.
Setting and reviewing operations budgets and managing cost.

 

Oversee and manage the office network, assisting with recruitment, training, HR issues, appraisals, etc.
Ensure the office network manage clients, delivering the highest standard of customer service in an efficient manner.
Develop and maintain client contacts and relationships.
Report team / office productivity, profits & loss, margins, client feedback, etc. to Management Team.
