JOB TITLE : Warehouse and Distribution Manager
REPORTS TO : Operations Manager – Milling
DIVISION : Milling Operations

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Internally : Management; Maintenance, Administration, Procurement, Mill, Packing, Sales and HR.
Externally : Depot manager, Store managers, Ordering and receiving department, Distribution Transport service Providers, Agency Principals and Packing materials, Pallet agents.

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Through best inventory management practices, manage the warehouse and Distribution sections towards attaining agreed customer service level targets while being cost effective and improve efficiency. This include on time deliveries and acceptable order fill levels. Management of Pallet control system.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualification :
– Materials Management/Logistics Diploma and/or CIPS Advance Certificate.
– Computer literacy essential

 

Experience :
– 5 years post qualification experience with at least 3 years as Warehouse/Distribution Manager
– Previous work in the FMCG Industry as well as Logistics/Transportation field advantageous.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

4.1 Ensure all incoming consignments are verified against supplier invoices and binned within the stipulated time frame
4.2 Ensure ordered goods are accurately picked and invoiced in accordance with the customer NDDs
4.3 Ensuring accurate and timely processing of IBTs (Inter Branch Transfers); receiving and order picking thereof.
4.4 Ensure periodic stock counts are undertaken as planned.
4.5 Manage the section’ expense budget within agreed parameters
4.6 Staff training/upliftment and building of an effective team
4.7 Perform administrative duties within agreed parameters and SOPs

 

4.8 Process improvement/innovation in line with industry best practices
4.9 Set up layout and ensure efficient space utilisation
4.10 Implementation of safety for the goods and workers.
4.11 Manage Security Contracts on site as well as Closed Circuit TV Camera
Surveillance systems.
4.12 Management of the Delivery Due List on SAP and subsequent printing of
Picking slips in line with NDD’s.
4.13 Suggest alternatives to Sales Representatives/Managers and/or customers in situations where the ordered/preferred product is out of stock.
4.14 Perform customer liaison function by regularly updating customers on the
Status of their orders and subsequent delivery timeframe.

 

4.15 Manage daily allocation of loads to ensure efficient truck utilization;
Outsourced transport companies
4.16 Continuous liaison with the Operations Manager – Milling/Sales
Manager on delayed deliveries.
4.17 Manage movement of CHEP pallets and reconcile monthly invoice
4.18 SHE and Food safety
4.19 Check and update CSA Reports accordingly
4.20 Generate the required reports depicting the performance of Distribution
Against set targets i.e. Vehicle Utilisation, Cartage Outwards, P/Ton.

 

UNDERTAKE SUCH OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS DIRECTED BY SUPERIOR
