Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the buying and selling of all products at distribution centre level.
- Manage product range, quality, pricing, sales, and gross profit performance.
- Coordinate divisional promotions in collaboration with Divisional Fruit & Veg Managers
- Maintain effective communication and alignment with the Shoprite Checkers divisional office.
- Lead and manage all DC operational activities to ensure efficiency and service excellence and ensure the DC remains aligned with Supply Chains objectives for the Corporate Park.
- Uphold hygiene standards, housekeeping practices, and food safety requirements.
- Ensure the safeguarding and optimal utilisation of company assets and that all SLA’s are in place for all critical equipment on site.
- Maintain full compliance with all relevant government regulations.
- Provide leadership in staff management, performance, and industrial relations matters.
- Ensure adherence to financial systems, administrative controls, and accurate reporting.
- Implement and enforce stringent expense control measures while ensuring full compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Coordinate the budget process to ensure accurate financial planning and oversight
- Establish, track, and evaluate KPIs and objectives to drive performance and accountability
- Achieve all budgeted financial and operational targets.
Requirements
- Diploma in Agriculture
- A relevant tertiary qualification with commercial subjects will be an advantage
- At least three to six (3-5) years’ experience of the same position or management position, with proven leadership and management skills in a similar work or business environment.
- A successful track record at management level in a trading, operational and distribution centre environment,
- Essential competencies: Team work, innovation, managing people, problem solving, impact and influence, sound financial reasoning and commercial thinking, change management, delivery results and meeting customer satisfaction, organising and executing, relating and networking
- Job related skills: Leadership skills, managerial skills, negotiating skills, marketing skills, interpersonal skills and computer literacy.
