Job Summary

Carries out minor repairs, services and installations on plant machinery/equlpmenL

Minimum requirements

• Trade Test B (MTTC qualification) or equivalent
• 1 (one) year post quaiificabon experience in an engineering environment or successful completion of the Operative Development Programme (OOP).
• Driver’s License

Key Effectiveness Areas

• Participates In the control of sectional costs by optimizing resource utilization in the area of work
• Performs visual inspections on any equipment/ machinery/ environment in order to establish any defects, assessing specific requirements and reporting findings as appropriate
• Removes and replaces defective components/parts as directed by the relevant supervisor
• Confirms availabtlity of consumables with supervisors
• Operates specialized equipment and power/hand tools relevant to his/her trade which he/she was trained on (e.g. impact wrenches, electric drills/saws. grinding wheels, oxy-acetyiene torch etc.
• Performs baste repairs, installations and any other work, for the operation of all machinery/plant/equipment in area of responsibility, for which they are suitably qualified
• Carries out basic troubleshooting

• Reads and interprets basic technical drawings, diagrams and workshop manuals
• Cleans/stores and performs basic maintenance on the equipment as required
• Carries out administrative functions taking into cognizance the need to create a clear audit trail by:
• Completing Job cards to the correct standard
• Complying with all operational and engineering procedures related to tools, manuals, work practices
• Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility
