To develop and deliver high-quality teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, where applicable, in support of the academic objectives of School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS). The role includes developing learning materials aligned to programme learning outcomes, setting and evaluating assessments, supervising student projects or dissertations, supporting programme coordination, and contributing to student recruitment, induction, remediation, academic counselling and feedback processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • A Master’s degree in any of the following or relevant discipline is required: Electronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Financial Technology, Finance, Information Systems, Data Science.
  • A PhD in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
  • BQA accreditation, or eligibility for accreditation with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) or another recognised qualifications authority, is required.
  • A teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), or formal training in higher education teaching and assessment, will be an added advantage.
  • Membership of a relevant and recognised professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant industry certification in the area of specialisation will be an added advantage.
  • Experience for Lecturer: At least four (4) years of relevant post-qualification experience in higher education teaching, educational planning, delivery and management, or relevant professional practice. Operational knowledge of academic policies, standards and programmes, student administration, assessment, research, curriculum development, and learning and teaching management. Evidence of ability to teach effectively, develop learning materials, assess student learning and supervise student projects in the relevant specialisation area.
  • Experience for Senior Lecturer: At least six (6) years of relevant post-qualification experience in higher education teaching, educational planning and management, or relevant professional practice, three (3) of which should have been at Lecturer level or equivalent. Advanced knowledge of academic policies, standards and programmes, student administration, assessment, research, curriculum development and learning and teaching management. A consistent and sustained record of research, publications, student supervision, curriculum contribution and academic or programme leadership. Applicants with strong industry experience and clear potential to contribute to teaching, research, programme development and industry engagement may be considered at the appropriate level.
