Job Summary
To safely and efficiently operate a range of mining equipment, including Excavators, Dump Trucks, Dozers, and/or Drill Rigs, in accordance with MCM standards, statutory requirements, and approved operating procedures.
Key Activities
- Conduct workplace and task-specific risk assessments before commencing any activity, in line with established safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Perform comprehensive pre-start and visual inspections on assigned equipment (Excavators, Dump Trucks, Dozers, and Drill Rigs) to identify defects, assess operational readiness, and report findings to the Supervisor.
- Guide, signal, and direct haul trucks into and out of loading positions to ensure safe traffic flow and operational efficiency.
- Load material into haul trucks in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring correct payloads, minimal spillage, and equipment protection.
- Operate dump trucks safely and efficiently to transport material to designated tipping points or ROM stockpiles while complying with haul road rules and speed limits.
- Operate dozers to maintain clean loading areas, manage spillage, and achieve the required bench and floor elevations.
- Operate drill rigs in accordance with approved drilling patterns, depths, and procedures to support effective blasting outcomes.
- Coordinate and direct support equipment to maintain safe, clean, and productive working areas.
- Maintain correct floor and bench levels using applicable machine systems, visual indicators, and guidance from supervisors or survey controls.
- Carry out routine housekeeping and minor manual tasks, including cleaning machine cabs and external components, to ensure safe and ergonomic working conditions.
- Safely tram machines between work locations in accordance with mine traffic regulations and approved procedures.
- Exit machinery only in accordance with site safety procedures during rest and refreshment breaks.
- Effectively utilise fleet management and monitoring systems to record production data, communicate operational information, and report delays or equipment-related issues.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- O’ Level/BGCSE certificate or equivalent.
- Valid Madirelo Training & Testing Centre (MTTC) Machine Operator Competence Certificate.
- MTTC competency certification in at least two (2) of the following frontline mining equipment:
- Excavator
- Dump Truck
- Dozer
- Drill Rig
- A minimum of two (2) years’ proven experience operating heavy mining equipment, including Excavators, Drill Rigs, Dump Trucks, and Dozers.
- Understanding of SHE Management Systems (ISO 45001: 2018 & ISO 14001: 2015).
