Job Description

The Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board (BAMB) was established by an Act of Parliament, No. 2 of 1974 mandated to provide a market for locally grown scheduled crops such as cereals, pulses/beans and oilseeds, and ensure that adequate supplies exist for sale to customers at affordable prices. To help achieve its mandate, BAMB invites highly analytical and results driven individuals, with strong business acumen to apply for the position of Head of Finance.

JOB PURPOSE

Accountable to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be expected to plan, organize, manage and control the provision of financial management and accounting services to the Board ensuring the accuracy and timely maintenance of accounting and financial reports.

THE JOB

The incumbent will be responsible for among other things, the following:

Participating in the development of the overall organization strategy.
Developing, adopting, reviewing and implementing appropriate financial management and accounting system and controls.
Managing the preparation and analysis of management accounts, cash flow and cash flow projections in order to allow Management to make informed decisions.
Coordinating the preparation of the annual consolidated budget, as well as, monitoring the expenditures.

Ensuring adherence to internationally recognized accounting standards, conventions, and procedures to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
Managing the acquisition of capital assets and ensuring that assets are properly recorded, amortized and disposed of appropriately.
Establishing and ensuring the implementation of the short-term investment policy.

Developing and managing the implementation of the product pricing structure to ensure that the pricing structure is competitive and that there is return on investment.
Developing, implementing and continuously reviewing Finance section’s quality management system (QMS) to enhance the quality of service delivery.

THE PERSON

The right candidate will hold an ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification and be a member of an internationally recognized Institute of Accountants, together with a professional membership of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants.

In addition, the candidate will possess a minimum of eight (8) years relevant post qualification experience, three (3) of which should have been spent at the Management Accountant and/ or Financial Accountant level or equivalent, in a computerized accounting environment with detailed knowledge of IT systems to enhance quality of financial management and accounting.
