Job Description

Kalahari Conservation Society (KCS) is a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) founded in 1982 and is the oldest environmental NGO in Botswana Its mandate is based on its four Strategic Focus Areas:

• Boosting the conservation of transboundary ecosystems and their biodiversity;
• Facilitate empowerment of communities for healthy human wildlife coexistence and socioeconomic development through the sustainable use of natural resource;
• Promoting an improved national capacity to identify and mitigate impacts of climate change for Botswana’s people and ecosystems, including the usage of renewable energy; and
• Developing and promoting responsible waste management practices, including recycling, and shifting towards a “green lifestyle”.

The Society has a new position titled. Resource Mobilisation Officer within the Environment and Conservation Unit. The officer is expected to oversee the Society’s resource mobilisation strategy development and implementation By leading the search for funding opportunities, which will include identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying Call For Proposal (CFPs). attending strategy meetings, and related activities

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of ideas and concepts, that need resources to bring them into actuality. The database will include possible funding and donor bodies information;
• Search for possible resources to match and bring into reality the ideas and concepts, from both locally and internationally based bodies, from the Public. Private and Donor sectors;
• Write and submit professional compliant project proposals, within the allotted timeframes, and submit all other information as needed,

• Maintain filing system (electronic and paper-based) for proposal process including Call For Proposal’s, proposal submissions and presentations;
• Ensure registration on all relevant online databases and maintenance of up-to-date information where necessary;
• Maintain up-to-date files to supplement proposal writing process (resumes, project descriptions, potential partners);
• Follow up on unsuccessful proposals to develop recommendations for improving success rate.
• Assist in special projects for Business Development and Marketing;
• Analyse and understand the requirements of Call for Proposals (CFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs). Requests for Expressions of Interest (EOI) and other solicitation documents.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and corporate personnel, consultants, etc. to develop proposal strategy, identify potential areas of opportunity and themes that support a win strategy.

• Coordinate delivery of document to ensure full submission compliance and deadlines arc me; and
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in related field or at least three years’ work experience in writing proposals in response to CFPs;
2. Experience in working in Environment Management and Natural Resources Conservation;
3. Strong organisational skills that demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
4. Ability to work independently under strict deadline pressure and handle multiple work assignments;
5. Communications cxpericncc/knowiedgc beyond proposal writing is desired;
6. Ability to learn quickly, demonstrate critical thinking and make situation appropriate decisions using sound judgment;

7. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
8. Experience working in a high-paced environment; and
9. Time management and organisational skills.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
