Job summary
The Manager-Operations and Supply Chain is responsible for planning, developing and directing the Institute’s operations and administration in order to facilitate achievement of the Institute Vision and Objectives. These involve the strategic and pro-active management of people, organisational resources, infrastructure and the development of administrative and business functions of the Institute to improve efficiency and productivity in the Institute. The Manager-Operations and Supply Chain reports directly to the Director-Operations and Finance.

The individual is responsible for providing leadership in the areas of planning, design, implementation and management of the Institute’s supply chain and information technology systems. The incumbent is also accountable for the management and oversight of IT related projects, strategic planning of IT initiatives. Ensures that the Institute has appropriate IT facilities and support, in line with the institute’s IT strategy. Managing and controlling all aspects of purchasing, inventory, including supplier selection, cost negotiations, contract negotiations, supplier relationship and purchase order management.
Ensuring that the Institute resource planning and financial management supports effective planning and decision making in the Institute.
The Manager O &SC is expected to contribute towards the development of the Institute Strategy, in particular to supply chain, operations, information technology as well as risk and compliance. Responsible for the overall coordination, development and review of policies and procedures across the institute.
As a member of the leadership of the Institute, the Manager O&SC contributes to the development and effective implementation of the Institute’s Strategy, budget and operations by analysing and monitoring the current system of provision to ensure that it is effective.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field.
- Some IT related qualification desirable.
- 5 years working in an operations environment at senior level.
- MBA or Masters in Strategic Management will be an added advantage.
- Thorough understanding of policies, procedures and business management processes.
- Good understanding of the local higher education and financial Sectors
- Experience in a broad range of expert skills with regard to infrastructure and network management / implementation (Network system configuration and connection building, troubleshooting and server management).
- A solid understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems, end-user client applications, professional business applications, and underlying technological concepts
