TRANSPORT OFFICER

Main Purpose of the Job

* To ensure transportation needs of the departments are met and monitoring of the vehicle utilization, disposal and their safety
* To perform fleet routing, drivers & vehicles scheduling
* To ensure vehicle safety, ensuring timely preventive maintenance & repairs of the BIUST fleet
* Collection and imputation of vehicle usage information and the vehicle fleet database
* Registration of vehicles, application for vehicle permits with Department of Roads Transport and Safety.

Academic Qualifications

Education
• A Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management/Economics/Logistics or a closely related field.

Driver’s license is essential.

Experience
• A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in vehicle fleet management/transport logistics environment.

1. Vehicle availability
2. Customer Satisfaction
3. Monitors vehicle utilization, audits vehicle log books
4. Up to date vehicle licenses and permits
5. Reduced misuse of vehicles
6. Junior staff performance
7. Updated fleet database (all transport transactions captured in the system)
8. Safe and healthy fleet

• Computer literacy and ability to use current technology in fleet Management
• Problem solving and Customers interaction skills, ability to lead.
• To work in a team as well as alone, ability to work under pressure and meet deadline
• Understanding of the procedures and policies regarding transportation of materials and personnel
• Thorough knowledge of transport and traffic rules and regulations
