REF: AS003: SENIOR RADIOGRAPHER                    

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the successful candidates will be responsible, in collaboration with clinical physicians and other specialists, for using medical equipment to help identify and diagnose a variety of medical conditions, diseases and injuries in accordance with diagnostic procedures and protocols in a safe and efficient manner.

The successful candidates will be fully accountable for all examinations done.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:-

1. Effective coordination and execution of specified radiology tasks to ensure timely examination results in the form of reports to clinical physicians and other specialists.
2. Effective execution of radiology activities inclusive capturing high quality images

• Ensures effective maintenance of diagnostic equipment such as X-rays, fluoroscopy, MRI and CT scanners under their control to ensure that they are safe and fit for use.

1. Ensures availability of applicable radiology procedures, recommendations for improvement of services offered or recommendations for development of new procedures in line with patients ‘needs/requirements
2. Attends to clinical physicians and other specialists queries and escalates same if unable to address such queries.
3. Organises, leads and motivates team members and ensures that they adhere to behavioural standards as guided by the hospital values, code of conducts, quality and safety rules as amended from time to time

• Compiles and produces reports as and when required and recommendations to the Manager
• Inform patients of any delays including delays in producing their reports and attending to queries as and when they arise from patients.

1. Maintains productive relationship with other team members from other departments and adheres strictly to professional code of conduct and ensuring timely and effective communication to ensure positive patient outcome.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

BSc Diagnostic Radiography supported by knowledge and skill in using various imaging equipment such as Mammography/ MRI/CT Scan/ Bone Density/ X-ray

Candidate should be registered with Botswana Health Professional Council.

Experience

Five years as a Diagnostic Radiographer in a healthcare facility and use of the above equipment along with the following:

• Integrity supported by excellent work ethics
• In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and policies governing the practice of radiologist/radiographers in Botswana
• Ability to internalise the hospital values and quality management systems
• Proven people and conflict management skills
• Relationship building skills and ability to work with others
• Ability to work with hospital system and radiology equipment
• Customer care (Patient centered and provision of quality service)
