Main Purpose of the Job:
- Plans, directs, manages and supervises a fire brigade
- Ensures that fire services within a district meet set standard requirements e.g maximum distance travel time of 5 minutes for high risk area and recommends establishment of sub-fire station where necessary
- Designs suitable specifications for appliances required in the fire service
- Offers professional advice to the disaster management committees on fire related emergencies
- Develops, interprets, and recommends fire safety codes to the relevant authorities
- Carries out inspections on new building construction to ensure compliance to fire codes
- Manages the development of emergency response fire and rescue procedures to ensure a discipline, expedient and effective response to emergencies
- Coordinates the involvement of other firefighting units during emergency situations in a district
- Undertakes any other duties as directed by management
Requirements
Qualifications: Diploma or BSc in Fire Engineering/Fire Safety Management
Experience: Direct entry will be limited to candidates with a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience for Diploma holders or 6 years relevant work experience for BSc holders or 2 years working experience as Deputy Chief Fire officer for serving officers

Remuneration & Benefits
Salary: D4 (P193 356 – P213 468) per annum
Leave: 30 working days per annum
Benefits: Contribution to pension fund scheme (Government contributes 15% and Employee 5%). Optional Medical Aid (Government pays 50% and Employee 50%).
