Project Counsellors in the North East (Masunga)

Vacancy: Botswana Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Center (BGBVC) is looking for 2 candidates with valid driver’s Licence for the positions of Project Counsellors in the North East (Masunga) and Chobe District (Kasane) to implement the Children On the Move Project whose objective is to identify and render relevant services to migrant and unaccompanied children.

Duration of the Post: 1 year contract

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling, Social Sciences or its equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify migrant and unaccompanied children (both internal and cross border) in the designated areas of implementation, provide counselling and make referrals for other interventions in order to improve their self-confidence, psychological/emotional well being as well as restoring their dignity and self-worth.
• Ability to work with community leadership and structures in the designated areas of implementation for identification of migrant and unaccompanied children in the designated areas of implementation.
• Ability to conduct awareness campaigns to sensitive community members on Children on the Move Project as well as the protection of these children.
• Ability to work with other stakeholders in the designated areas of implementation in order to form partnerships and ease intervention and/or referral of migrant and unaccompanied children.
• Participate in other activities in the District such as District Multi-Sectoral AIDS Committee (DMSAC) and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to raise awareness on the project and other services rendered by the organisation.
• Preparation and submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the scheduled time frames.
