Officer, Communications

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for assisting In Use implementation of communications and advocacy strategies to support the implementation of Vision 2036 council mandate.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Assists In implementation of department strategy.
• Assists in popularization of Vision 2036 through a whole of nation approach to create awareness and understanding.
• Assists In the development of communications strategy, plans, materials and content targeted at all stakeholders, and other key audiences
• Assists in the implementation of ‘context-effective’ information, education and communication plans to create awareness and understanding to targeted population subgroups.
• Assists in the implementation, as well as. monitoring and evaluation of a comprehensive advocacy strategy.
• Assists in the implementation, as well as. monitoring and evaluation of leadership-targeted advocacy and change management strategies
• Implements, monitors and evaluates a comprehensive national IEC. publicity and advocacy strategy.
• Assists in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of stakeholder strategic engagement strategy for growing productive stakeholder relations and partnerships.
• Assists in mapping out all Vision 2036 stakeholders against their roles and responsibilities.
• Creates sustainable platforms for consensus-building on roles and responsibilities.
• Assists in operationalisation of stakeholder forum to ensure greater harmonisation in programming by all stakeholders and to promote effective collaborations and partnerships.
• Adheres to cost containment initiatives

Minimum Education Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. Public Relations. Marketing.
• Business Management, or rotated field

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge and understanding of communications and advocacy processes

• Knowledge of new digital media communications.
• Ability to maintain alliances and strategic partnerships
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong advocacy and lobbying skills.
• Change management
