To coordinate and oversee the Information Technology Department.

• Reviews communications, data processing, and information management requirements, develops and recommends appropriate IT strategies and solutions to meet IT needs of the Institute.

• Reviews availability of IT platforms, applications,hardware and networking options and makes recommendations for the adoption of IT standards and platforms.

• Provides leadership and technical guidance in the acquisition of equipment, applications, operating systems, installation and commissioning of IT projects.

• Manages and coordinates the design of systems specifications for inclusion in IT projects tenders and participates in the evaluation of tenders.

• Establishes and ensures implementation of operating systems, processes and procedures which will enhance organisational efficiencies and ensure fast, reliable and secure transmission, processing and retrieval of data and the generation of appropriate reports to facilitate decision making.

• Develops in consultation with end users; user support strategies and programmes to optimise utilisation of available IT systems by end users and the provision of technical support and assistance.

• Ensures effective measures are in place to protect data, security of transmissions and data recovery procedures.

• Establishes design parameters for LAN and WAN systems to optimise communications facilities in the most reliable and cost effective manner which will enable the organisation to automate the consolidation of processes and speed up operational decision making.

• Adheres to all SHEQ and corporate governance principles, policies and procedures in area of responsibility.

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the IT field, three (3) of which should have been at managerial level including project management, IT budget preparation and management.

• Practical experience on a wide range of computing hardware, software, information technologies and procedures is required.
