Finance Manager – Botswana Open University

Main Purpose of the Job

Manages the day-to-day professional accounting operations of the University by applying accounting principles and practices in accordance with the university policies to ensure an efficient financial accounting system that complies with International Financial

Reporting Standards.

Key Performance Areas

• Assists the Director of Financial Services to develop plans for the implementation of the University’s financial policies and standards to ensure compliance in the provision of effective financial management services.
• Maintains reliable and accurate accounting records by reflecting the status of the capital expenditure and reconciling it against the budget to ensure effective accountability
• Produces regular management and annual accounts in accordance with the policies of the University to facilitate sound governance of the University.
• Produces regular analysis of income and expenditure to assist the University accounting officers in budget monitoring and ensuring compliance with University requirements.

Qualifications, Experience

• Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
• Professional ACCA/CIMA
• At least five years management experience in a computerised accounting environment with practical skills in budgeting, preparation of final accounts and cash flow management.
