Veterinary Technician(Animal Health Department)

Key responsibilities:

– keep records of all VMPs(Veterinary Medicinal Products) sold to customers on DVS treatment record card form
– Advise customers on vaccination protocols/management/good husbandry practices
– Advise customers on VMPs withdrawal periods
– Advise customers on Antimicrobial resistance
– Keep inventory of all VMPs and expiry dates
– Keep temperature monitoring records
– Keep records of damaged and expired expired VMPs at least for 3 years
– Keep a registry of relevant legislation with regards to Animal Health and VMPs
– Keep inventory of all Animal feed and relevant legislation with regard to BSE controls (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy-Mad Cow Disease) and implement SOPs (standard Operating Procedures) on pest control.
– Keep inventory of all veterinary equipments
– Provide technical advise to customers on Animal Health matters
– Ensure the licensing concerning Animal Health products is in place as per regulations
– Grow branch business by achieving sales targets
– Building a good relationship with farming organization or associations in the area
– Liaise with company veterinarian on introducing new Animal Health products or whoever responsible for orders
-Train staff on Animal Health products
– Personnel administration
– Prepare monthly Reports and submit to management on monthly basis
– Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by management

Qualifications

Diploma/ Higher in Animal Health and Production
At least three (3) years relevant work experience
Added advantages
a. Worked in a retail set up
b. Short course in Agro Chemicals
c. Class B SADC Drivers license
d. Supervisory skills
e. Customer service
