Job Title

WORKSHOP MANAGER

Minimum Requirements,

• 5+ years of workshop Supervision or Management experience
• Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Or Diploma in Diesel Mechanics
• Current valid clean driving license
• Computer literacy (Office applications & Outlook)

Skills & Experience

• Knowledge & skill in running a trucking workshop
• Ability to balance conflicting priorities
• Excellent communication skills on all levels
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Flexible approach to working hours
• Proven track record of planning and forecasting
• Coaching of junior staff
• Proven knowledge and experience of trucking workshop operations
• Extensive experience of managing workshop staff
• Knowledge of workshop policies and procedures
• Oversee, manage and control the day to day running of the vehicle workshop ensuring that all inspection, repair and servicing of the vehicle fleet is completed in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
• Overall responsibility for all vehicle fleet and site vehicle repair & maintenance
• Repair & maintenance cost control
• Vehicle spares & tyres stock

Key Accountability

• Lead, direct and manage all workshop staff and be responsible for the output of workshop quality and efficiency ensuring best value standards are achieved.
• Manage and monitor vehicle servicing in accordance with required service and inspection schedule
• Evaluate staff performance; oversee development and maintenance of staff competence ensuring that staff are appropriately trained and fully conversant with all workshop practices and procedures.
• Ensure all vehicles are maintained to safe, legal and appropriate contract standards as applicable
• Ensure all workshop equipment is fit for purpose and inspected and maintained in accordance with health & safety guidelines

• Manage stock levels and the purchase of replacement parts and equipment
• To comply with Health & Safety responsibilities within this role in accordance with the policies and legal requirements.
