Job Description
THE JOB PURPOSE
The Company Secretary will be responsible for providing secretarial and legal advisory services to the organisation, as well as, providing an effective risk governance and compliance environment across business.
THE JOB
The incumbent will be responsible for among other things, the following:
- Providing general Company Secretarial services to BotswanaPost.
- Managing all Board processes, including proving Board Secretarial services.
- Providing strategic legal advice and guidance, as well as, monitoring compliance and contract management within the organisation.
- Leading and coordinating all legal activities of the organisation, which include providing legal opinions and advice, as well as, managing all litigation matters.
- Ensuring implementation of good corporate governance principles.
- Ensuring compliance with the company’s constitution and effecting any changes to meet the needs of the company.
- Leading the development of legal policies, processes and procedures in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Ensuring the creation, development and maintenance of business governance and compliance policies, processes and procedures are in place.
THE PERSON
The right candidate will possess the following:
- At least a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from a recognised University and admitted to practice in any court of law in the Republic of Botswana.
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in corporate legal work, civil litigation, contract negotiations and governance.
- A Chartered Institute of Secretaries (CIS) qualification will be an advantage.
