To protect company assets and improve profitability by developing and implementing risk discipline in the stores wholesale formats. To investigate and resolve financial losses resulting from criminal activity such as theft, fraud, vandalism, accident and injury as per mandate. Audits need to be performed at stores on a monthly/quarterly basis.

Conduct Investigations

• Follow internal procedures and legal steps in investigating criminal activities in the region/stores
• Compile investigation reports and report on related trends in the business
• Effectively utilize tools including but not limited to polygraph, interviews in resolving a case
• Ensure timeous follow-up and closure of cases
• Regular liaison with the Masscash Risk Management team and store operations team and Legal Team on cases

Risk Assessments

• Conduct quarterly risk assessments in all stores/warehouses in the region to identify potential exposure areas and implement corrective measures
• Provide recommendations in preventing loss associated with criminal activity both internal focus [including but not limited to cash handling theft, stock rollovers, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access violations, fraud]. As well as an external focus [including but not limited to shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery and store safety] in liaison with the Loss Prevention Manager
• Provide feedback to Store managers on findings from Risk Assessment
• Analyse and assist management in actioning recommendations of the risk audit results
• Conduct quarterly Loss Prevention assessments in stores identified by the Divisional Risk Manager and Loss Prevention Manager to identify exposure areas and implement corrective measures
• Provide feedback to Store managers on findings from the Loss Prevention assessment

Stock Take

• Attend one Stock take per month as identified by Divisional Risk Manager and National Loss Prevention Manager
• Assist management to achieve accurate stock counts by ensuring that stock take procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure that shrinkage results are accurate, assessed and investigated carefully.
• Report discrepancies and provide monthly reporting information

Legislative Requirements

• Ensure that current and new stores are compliant with legislative requirements with specific reference to OHASA, Food Safety Act, Environmental Waste Management Act, Liquor Act, and Building Act
• Conduct on going coaching and implementation of corrective measures related to risk with relevant managers
• Report on discrepancies, investigate and provide recommendations for corrective action
• Identifying the necessary legislative training required by stores and notifying HR and L&D to action.

Effective self-management

• Demonstrate consistent application of internal policies and procedures
• Escalate identified problems to relevant manager
• Promote sharing of knowledge through informal and formal channels including but not limited to training of RRM’s and store managers with regard to criminal activities and controls.
• Apply knowledge of the Organisation, Legislation and other systems, structures, policies and procedures to achieve strategic objectives
• Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained
• Maintain a positive attitude

• National Certificate in Risk and Compliance or Operations Management

• Minimum five years’ management experience in this portfolio.
• Ability to plan, organise and control own and others activities.
• Knowledge of OHAS ACT is required.
• Knowledge of Arch and stock control systems and procedures would be an advantage
