Senior Executive – Credit Control – Continental Reinsurance Plc

Overview

Continental Reinsurance Plc is a private reinsurance company that transacts reinsurance business with insurance companies across Africa.

Overall Job Purpose

• Responsible for the overall management of the ‘book of debtor’ accounts (receivables management) to ensure prompt collection of outstanding premium invoices and reconciliation of the same
• To collate and maintain accurate records of transactions for all clients, resolving problems in relation to payments and ensure the provision of an error free statement of account at any point in time
• Timely reporting to Management on outstanding issues and potential debtor problems
• Comprehensive appreciation and enforcement of the corporate credit control policy and guidelines
• Draft and lead with all necessary credit control reporting to regulators, external auditors and Management

Key Responsibility

• Creating sound practical operational alignment with corporate procedures and policies that ensure timely payments while maintaining professional customer relations
• Liaising with customers, as well as internal personnel including the sales team
• With the aid of the ‘age analysis of receivables’, monitor and raise timely (weekly) awareness on receivables above the 180 days threshold and recommending appropriate action
• Circularisation of ‘statement of accounts’ on a monthly basis and ensuring regular follow up of premium payment thereafter
• Treatment and reconciliation items and monitoring of business entries and unprocessed receipts and ensuring that the latter are kept within acceptable levels at all times
• Internal and external reconciliation of accounts
• To monitor debtor balances and achieve collection targets
• Ensure appropriate and correct cash matching of collection for multiple currencies and various clients
• Regular analysis of receivables, premium collections and unprocessed receipts. Formulate comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports as necessary
• Review, monitor, enforce and implement the global Credit Control policy
• Lead the understanding and interpretation of the Credit Control policy
• Weekly report of receivables above 180 days threshold and corresponding action
• Advise on accounts due for impairment, write off and/or reversal
• Assume lead role in the computation of quarterly and yearly impairments

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc/BCom/HND in Accounting
• Professional qualification e.g ACA, ACCA or equivalent

In addition to at least three years experience working within an accounts receivable and/or credit control environment, candidates for the position will also need to demonstrate the following qualities:

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good business acumen for problem solving
• Competency with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
• Excellent team player and confidence to deal with Clients and various Stakeholders
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize a demanding workload
• Working knowledge of Insurance (will be) added advantage
• Experience in SICS NT software will be an added advantage
