SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELLOR – BOSASNet

BOSASNet is looking for a qualified Substance Abuse Counsellor to provide screening, assessment, and direct counselling services to people with substance use disorders.

Key Duties

•Screening for substance use disorders
•Assessment to identify client problems and/or needs in various areas of life
•Facilitate treatment planning for individual treatment course
•Facilitate individual, family and group counselling sessions
•Facilitate referrals, follow-ups, and discharge of clients
•Assist with practical problems, and crisis or emergency situations
•Conduct public education and awareness raising

Job Requirements and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counselling, Theology or any related field
  Minimum of 1 years’ experience of substance abuse assessment and counselling
• Experience of working in a Rehabilitation Centre, or direct counselling with people with substance use disorders and their families

Competencies/Aptitudes

• Counselling skills particularly in individual, family or group
• Communication and skills of working with people, including a strong desire to assist people
• Ability to handle confidential and personal information and records
• Ability to abide by counselling ethical code of conduct
