Imaams required for the Francistown Mosque

Must be qualified and competent in the following:

• Be a Haziful Quaran ( having memorized the Quran)
• Must have in-depth knowledge of the hadith
• Be able to interpret and answer queries on the Quran and Hadith
• Will be required to lead the five times daily congregational and Jummah prayers
• Be able to conduct the Ramadraan Taraweeh prayers which include reciting the Quran from memory
• Be able to give Islamic based lectures Including the Jummah Khutbah in English
• Be able to provide religious and moral guidance and counselling
• Be able to read, translate and teach Arabic
• Be able to teach children to read Arabic and to understand the basics of the Quran
• Be able to conduct the Nikkan (Marriage) ceremony
• Be able to perform Ghusi (body preparation and shrouding for burial)
• Be able to perform burial procedure (Jannaxah)
