Braillist and Assistive Technology Officer – Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind

Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind, an organisation that offers residential, rehabilitation and resettlement services to children with visual impairments is in need of qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:

JOB TITLE: Braillist and Assistive Technology Officer

Key Performance

• Transcribe from print to braille and vice versa
• Operate and provide training on assistive software and devices used by the visual impaired
• Ensure proper handling, usage and maintenance of assistive devices.
• Train on Orientation and Mobility
• Train computers JAWS programme

Qualifications

• Degree in Education/Special Education with a major in Visual Impairment
• Contracted Braille, Unified English Braille Edition
• Braille Teaching
• Any Other course related to visual impairment will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of five years working on this field and with children with disabilities especially visual impairment
• Experience in installing and operating a variety of assistive technology devices and software like Braille embosser, Perkins braille,  Smart Perkins Brailler, Pearl Reading Camera, Zyfuse Heater etc.
• Experience in using both Standard English Braille and Unified English Braille
