Job Summary
Reports to Head of Information Technology, with full responsibility to plan, direct, manage and drive the provisioning of Information Technology operational services, effect risk mitigation, develop strategic partnerships and Innovation across the Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) group and subsidiaries (BIFM, BLIL, Khumo Properties and Legal Guard). The specific responsibilities include delivery of IT SLA’s and anticipating, selecting adoption of enabling tools, and planning for service requirements of the BIHL subsidiaries. Responsible for development, succession, and management of IT staff, provides advisory support to subsidiaries on IT matters. In addition, the role will also include Change Management, Project Management, Digital Transformation, IT Governance and Risk Compliance
Key Performance Areas
- Ensure that the business applications systems running in the Production environment are legally authorised for BIHL’s use
- Ensures integrity and security of BIHL databases and that data integrity and safety is not compromised. All processes running on production systems should normally be scheduled and automated
- Ensure that operations standards are implemented and adhered to in supporting the business application systems
- Ensures business continuity management principles are adhered to in order to deliver to the business according to agreed delivery levels
- Contribute directly to the development of IT strategies, policies and practices and enforcement thereof, to maximize the contribution of IT to business growth, development as well as profitability
- The Department must take a leading and key stakeholder role in the development of any new IT System.
- Provide support to all technology projects.
- Oversees the Service Desk and provision of 1st and 2nd Line Desktop Support Services
- Ensures all incidents, problems, changes and service requests are logged through the organisation service desk
- Stakeholder management and coordination of change management procedures and processes
- Implements, manages and monitors IT Governance Frameworks and best practices

Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science
- Post graduate qualification such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
- The position holder will possess an industry-standard technical and hands-on qualification
Experience/Knowledge & Skills
- A minimum of eight years post qualification experience in the ICT sector. Experience in the Financial Services sector (life insurance business, investment funds management, banking and/or any other financial service) will be an added advantage
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and profit accountability is an added advantage
- Proven background in managerial leadership, Service Management and COBIT/ITIL frameworks
