SALARY: E1 (P409, 008 – P425, 556 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 Working Days Per Annum
BENEFITS:
i. Optional Medical Aid Scheme with the Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS-Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). However, in the event the applicant has been subscribing to other Medical Aid Schemes besides BPOMAS an option to continue membership with respective Medical Schemes will be allowed. Government undertakes to contribute an amount equivalent to the position that the employee would have been entitled to under BPOMAS.
ii. For new entrants to the public service, a contract of 24 – 36 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 30% upon the expiry of contract.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor`s Degree in Education Management, Multimedia Communication or related field. A Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems or any other related field will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of sixteen (16) years relevant work experience of which two (2) should have been served as Deputy Director level on E2 salary scale in Government, or equivalent position and duties in the Private Sector and Parastatal Organization. Experience in the use of ICT to support e-learning will be an advantage.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of policies and programmes on ICT and ensure effective and efficient performance of the Department.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Monitor and evaluate feedback from the Department’s clients on the adequacy of services provided and undertake corrective action as necessary.
• Accounts for the operations of the Department.
• Develops partnership with stakeholders to promote the use of ICT in teaching and learning.
• Addresses stakeholders inquiries, complaints and concerns.
• Provides and interprets educational information to stakeholders on request.
• Represents the Ministry in various educational forums in matters relating to the use of technology in teaching and learning.
• Initiates long term strategic planning for the Department, determines priorities and optimise resource use.
• Develops and monitors implementation of the Department’s strategic plans.
• Provides mechanisms for decision making and problem solving based on careful and strategic analysis.
• Initiates and monitors evaluation of educational programmes to inform the education sector.
• Collaborates with Corporate Services Division to ensure that there are adequate resources for the Department to undertake its work.
• Provides overall Management support to the department on financial administration functions.
• Coordinates and monitor budget requirements by consolidating and verifying information obtained from the Department and facilities budget utilization.
• Coordinates development and implementation of procurement plans.
• Attends to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) issues and represents the Department at all Public Accounts Committee meetings.
• Undertake any other related duties as required to meet the exigencies of the service.
