General Manager – Tshukudu Metals Botswana (Pty) Ltd

This is a rare opportunity to lead a significant greenfields development project and is the key operational role influencing the success of the project. In this role, the GM will be mentoring and developing a highly skilled mining workforce and contributing to building a lasting legacy in the local community. The GM will be working os port of a highly regarded Executive and Management team.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

• Define and evaluate strategic options for the achievement of the T3 objectives and develop appropriate strategic initiatives
• Implement recruitment and labour sourcing strategies, including developing mentoring and training strategies to build capacity within the local community
• Develop the Health and Safety strategy, mentoring HSE team and implementing initiatives to drive a zero harm culture
• Assume oversight of entire operational readiness works for the T3 project
• Undertake financial budgeting, cost management and reporting
• Oversee risk management
• Work with the Executive Country Manager to manage key external relationships
• Oversee business improvement initiatives

Key selection criteria:

• Proven experience in leading tho successful delivery of a major greenfields project
• Significant experience in international projects
• Proven ability to build cohesive teams and drive a high-performance culture
• Strong negotiation skills (including contract management)
• Sound commercial and investor relations experience
• Proven ability to initiate, lead and deliver change
• Exceptional decision-making skills
• High energy and personal drive for success
• Exceptional community relations awareness and skills
• Experienced in preparation of corporate reports and data for public companies (ASX, LSE etc)

Academic Qualification & Experience

• Minimum of BSc – Mining Engineering or mining related discipline
• Minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience in base metal mining industry
• Vast experience in managing both underground and surface mining, and minerals processing (ideally Copper, Gold,  Nickel or Zinc)
• First Class Mine Managers Certificate or equivalent
• Light duty drivers’ license is mandatory
