Introduction

We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic and dedicated individual with a passion and proven experience in the aviation field. The applicant will be based in Maun and should be prepared to travel into remote areas from time to time.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Flight Safety Manager is responsible for the administration of the company Safety Management System (SMS) program. They are responsible to monitor safety issues, provide safety education, investigate incidents and accidents, act as a resident expert on safety matters and make recommendations to improve safety in the workplace.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

•Oversee and manage the Safety Management System’s policies and procedures
Review manuals for correct and relative information on policies, procedures, personnel safety responsibilities, etc
Set obtainable goals and objectives for the safety department on an annual basis
Develop a “safety culture” to maintain direct reporting links between all staff and departments in respect of safety
Represent and lead the operator’s response team in the event that an accident occurs, and ensure efficient and professional interaction with the CAAB and DAI
 Ensure safety hazards, occurrences and accidents are investigated and mitigated
•Manage the reporting of all safety related issues by ensuring risk analysis, root causes are found, mitigating actions are implemented and feedback is given
•Ensure that the CAAB is informed, or is involved in those incidents requiring a higher level of involvement or where the nature thereof is deemed serious
• Safety Assurance
To enforce and supervise the Safety Management System and OHSE system, ensuring that the security of the aircraft, flight crew, cargo, office staff and premises are not comprised
Carry out regular internal and external safety audits, surveys, assessments, drills and reports
Evaluating the safety status of Wilderness Air using Safety Performance Indicators
•Ensure efficient safety promotion and training
Ensure a trust relationship is built between the Safety Department and the employees
To ensure direct reporting communication links between all staff and departments in respect of safety
To continually train aircrew and ground staff in the delivery of safety standards

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
•CPL or ATP
•Previous experience working in Aviation Safety
•Computer literacy
•(Advantage) Emergency Response Training and OHSE training
