Information Technology (IT) Officer Ref no. ITO (001)

Overall job purpose

Implementation of IT operational processes to ensure optimal utilization of IT facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Works with end users and developers to establish users’ needs and recommends to the Supervisor and oversees the development of appropriate networks, systems and databases to meet communications and data management requirements of the Institute.
• Ensures that standard and customised reports can be generated from the database as per users’ requirements.
• Establishes and maintains storage, archiving, back-up and disaster recovery procedures to ensure the security of information are in place and thoroughly documented and tested and implemented correctly.
• Secures data transmissions tunnels and firewall maintenance.
• Prepares technical specifications for the design, installation and operation of networks and databases.
• Manages the installation, configuration and support of the Institute’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet system.
• Recommends purchase of ICT hardware and equipment, manages installation and maintains

IT asset register.

• Renews and updates software licenses.
• Supports IT skills and knowledge transfer by being a resource for the BICA IT Subcommittee offering support for BICA CPD events, and training employees on various applications.
• Adheres to all SHEQ and corporate governance principles, policies and procedures in area of responsibility.

Qualification and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• A minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience in the IT field.
